Frequently Asked Questions
Want to learn more about plant-based nutrition and why Columbus Prevent and Reverse is unique? Take the first step to feeling better, improving your overall health and life!
Why plant-based nutrition?
Because it works. There is a large and growing body of literature that shows that nutrition that is obtained from whole-food, plant-based sources minimizes risks to many chronic diseases and can even, in many cases, lead to reversal of these diseases. Eating in a way that not just avoids harmful foods but promotes beneficial ones can greatly improve health and quality of life. Much of the focus of the healthcare system is targeted at slowing problems once they start, our focus is on preventing and reversing them.
What is different about this clinic?
We are currently made of four physicians and one family nurse practitioner that are trained in different areas (internal medicine, emergency medicine, and pediatrics) that have independently studied nutrition and lifestyle medicine as methods to improving health. In this clinic, we aim to provide more time with patients to promote healthy food and lifestyle as well as encourage patients to continue learning about ways to become healthier. Our goal is to provide a community of people with similar health goals the outlet and forum to support and encourage each other. Our full-time physicians take care of far fewer patients than most providers to allow more time and dedication to each individual patient. In doing so, we can focus on ways to get you healthier and even off of some of your medications!
Is this a primary care clinic?
We do not seek to replace your primary care provider. Our goal is to focus on lifestyle choices to improve the way you live. We still encourage you to see your primary care physician.
Do the physicians believe in Western medicine?
Yes, we do. We are all board-certified physicians and we strongly believe in the benefits of medications and procedures when they are indicated. We also believe, however, that typical Western medical education ignores what patients can do to prevent and reverse disease without reliance on medications and procedures. This has led to a large amount of misinformation about healthy diets, exercise, etc.
Are the providers really available 24/7?
Yes! As mentioned above, we do not carry the large number of patients that many other providers do. You can email and hear back from us personally about your lifestyle medicine questions within 24 hours, and usually much sooner! During business hours, if we are not with patients, we can also take your phone calls directly. Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter because we are also active online!
Will you still see me if I don't want to entirely cut animal-based products from my diet?
How long will it take me to feel better?
Is this clinic only about plant-based nutrition?
Nope! There are anumber of lifestyle modifcations that we focus on including improving sleep, stress management, exercise, etc. These have all been shown to improve overall health and quality of life. Our main focus is on nutrition because this is an area that people identify as being one of the most confusing and challenging.
